The London Wetland Centre

The London Wetland Centre is a stunning 100 acre site in Barnes, run by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. Many birds and other wildlife have taken permanent residency at the centre and hundreds of others pass through on annual migration routes providing great opportunities to practice wildlife photography. I headed to Barnes with my friend Matt, who is a bird expert, to tell me what I was aiming my camera at.

Highlights of the day included the friendly staff and volunteers, a fight right in front of our hide between two Moorhens and a tasty post photography pint in The Red Lion. The centre is a brilliant day out for a taste of the wild within zone three of London.

  1. Nice! Wish we’d had Matt with us when we were members to help identify all the different birds.

BTW – typo at end of first para. Matt is a bird expert, nor ‘expect’
